7 ways to use QR codes at your wedding
- RSVP on the invitation: link to a Google Form or your wedding website's RSVP page. No more chasing replies.
- Wedding website: schedule, dress code, hotels and FAQs in one place.
- Save the date: an event QR code adds the date straight to guests' calendars.
- Directions: a location QR code to the exact ceremony entrance or car park.
- Photo sharing: a sign at the reception linking to a shared album (Google Photos, iCloud shared album or a photo app) so you get every guest's pictures.
- Gift registry or honeymoon fund.
- Reception WiFi: a WiFi QR code on the welcome sign.
Design tips for elegant wedding QR codes
- Contrast still matters. Gold foil or blush-pink dots on ivory paper may look beautiful but often won't scan. Use a deep color (navy, forest green, charcoal, burgundy) for the dots and save gold for the frame or surroundings.
- Choose softer shapes: "rounded", "dots" or "classy-rounded" look less technical than squares.
- Add a frame with words: "RSVP HERE", "SHARE YOUR PHOTOS", "FIND THE VENUE". We've preselected the "Card" frame; change the text to suit.
- Size: 2.5–3 cm (about 1 in) on invitations, 10 cm or more on signs that people scan from a distance.
Printable wedding RSVP cards
Our printable QR templates include a wedding RSVP card layout: enter your names and the date, and download a print-ready PDF with your QR code, in A4 or US Letter.
Make the RSVP link future-proof
Invitations go out months in advance. Link to a page you control (your wedding website) rather than a temporary form link, so you can change the form later without reprinting. And since the codes made here never expire, they'll still work when you look back at your stationery years from now.
A wedding QR code timeline
| When | Code | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 6–12 months before | Save the date (event code) | Save-the-date cards |
| 3–4 months before | RSVP and wedding website | Invitations |
| 1 month before | Directions and parking (location code) | Info card in the invitation |
| On the day | Photo sharing, playlist, reception WiFi | Welcome sign, table cards |
| After the wedding | Thank-you video or photo album | Thank-you cards |
Let guests add songs
Make a collaborative Spotify playlist and turn it into a Spotify QR code. Put it on the RSVP card ("Which song gets you dancing?") or on the tables at the reception. Guests with a Spotify account can add songs before and during the party.
Printing on invitation stock
Textured, cotton and handmade papers soak up ink and blur fine detail. For these papers:
- Print the code at least 3 cm (1.2 in) wide.
- Use a simple dot style (Classic or Soft quick style) rather than tiny dots.
- Avoid foil, letterpress or embossing on the code itself. Foil reflects light, and letterpress squashes the pattern.
- Ask your stationer for a proof and scan it in daylight and under warm indoor light.
Make it match your stationery
Pick a deep color from your palette for the dots, then use the Card frame with your own words: "RSVP HERE", "OUR STORY", "SHARE YOUR PHOTOS". The design is saved in your browser, so every code you make for the wedding uses the same style automatically.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a QR code for my wedding RSVP?
Create an RSVP form (Google Forms, or your wedding website's RSVP page), copy its link, paste it in the URL tab above and download the code.
Can I make a QR code for guests to upload photos?
Yes. Create a shared album or photo-collection link (for example a Google Photos shared album) and turn that link into a QR code. Display it on reception tables.
What size should the QR code be on an invitation?
About 2.5 cm (1 in) is ideal. Never go below 2 cm.
Can I use gold or pastel colors?
Only for the frame and surroundings. The dots need strong contrast against the paper, so choose a deep color and check the scan test.
Will the code still work after the wedding?
Yes. The codes never expire, so your photo-sharing code keeps working for late uploads.
Is it free?
Completely free with no watermark. Use as many codes as you like.
