How to turn a link into a QR code

    1. Copy the linkOpen the page in your browser and copy the address from the address bar.
    2. Paste it into the URL fieldIf you leave out https://, we add it for you.
    3. Customize and downloadPick colors, a dot style and a frame, then download PNG, SVG, JPG or PDF.
    4. Scan before printingOpen the link from the printed proof. A typo in the URL is the most common QR mistake.

A URL QR code is the most popular kind of QR code: scan it and the phone opens a web page. Anything with a web address works:

    • your website or a specific product page
    • a PDF such as a menu, brochure or manual (upload it to your website or Google Drive first, then share the link)
    • a Google Form, survey or sign-up sheet
    • a YouTube video, playlist or channel
    • an online review page: see the Google review QR code generator
    • a booking page, donation page, app store link or online shop

The longer the link, the more dots the QR code needs and the harder it is to scan when printed small. Compare:

    LinkCharactersQR version
    example.com/menu242 (25 × 25 dots)
    example.com/products/summer-collection-2026?utm_source=flyer694 (33 × 33 dots)
A long Google Drive sharing link90+5–6 (37–41 dots)

Tips: remove tracking parameters you don't need, or create a short, memorable page on your own domain (like yourname.com/menu) that redirects to the long address. That also lets you change the destination later without reprinting the code.

Some QR websites replace your link with their own short link so they can count scans, then switch it off when your free trial ends. We put your exact link in the code. No redirect, no tracking and nothing that can expire. If you'd like to measure scans, add UTM parameters to your link (e.g. ?utm_source=poster) and view them in your own analytics.

    • Use https:// if your site supports it; some phones warn about insecure http links.
    • Test on mobile data, not only your office WiFi, to make sure the page is public.
    • Make sure the page is mobile-friendly, since everyone who scans it is on a phone.
    • If you're linking to a file, check the sharing setting is "Anyone with the link".

Prefill this generator from any page

Create a bookmark with the address below. On any website, click the bookmark and this page opens with that site's link already filled in:

    javascript:location.href='https://qrcodehaven.in/?url='+encodeURIComponent(location.href)

You can also link to the generator with ?url= yourself, for example from an internal wiki, so colleagues land on a ready-made code.

    Troubleshooting URL QR codes

"This site can't be reached." The link has a typo, the domain expired, or the page only works inside your company network. Test on mobile data.

The page opens but looks broken. The site isn't mobile-friendly. Fix the page, because every visitor from a QR code is on a phone.

Safari shows a security warning. The link uses http instead of https, or the certificate expired. Use https and renew your certificate.

Too dense to scan. Long links make complex codes. Shorten them by removing parameters, or create a short page on your own domain.

    UTM tags: measure each placement

Add tags to the link so your analytics show where visitors came from:

    https://example.com/offer?utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=qr&utm_campaign=spring

Create one code per placement (flyer, window, receipt) with a different utm_source. The bulk generator makes this quick when you have many placements.

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need to include https:// in the link?

No. If the link has no scheme we add https:// automatically. If your site only works on http, type http:// yourself.

Can I link to a PDF?

Yes. Upload the PDF to your website, Google Drive or Dropbox, make sure it is publicly shared, and paste the link here.

Can I track how many people scanned my QR code?

Static codes don't count scans themselves, but you can add UTM parameters to your link and see visits in Google Analytics or your website statistics.

How long can the URL be?

Technically up to about 2,000 characters, but codes get hard to scan above roughly 100. Shorter links are always better.

Will the QR code work if my website changes?

The code always opens the exact link inside it. If you move the page, add a redirect from the old address to the new one.

Can I use the code on printed products?

Yes, commercial use is free and you don't need to credit us. Download SVG or a large PNG for print.
