- Pick a frame and call to actionTry "JOIN OUR CHANNEL" or "GET DEALS ON TELEGRAM".
- Add your logoUse your own logo rather than Telegram's. Error correction is raised automatically.
- Download and testScan it: Telegram should open on the right profile, channel or group.
What can a Telegram QR code open?
Telegram links all start with t.me/, so one code type covers everything:
| Destination | Link format | How to enter it |
|---|---|---|
| Your profile | t.me/username | Social tab: type the username |
| Public channel or group | t.me/channelname | Social tab: type the channel name |
| Private group or channel | t.me/+AbCdEf… | URL tab: paste the invite link |
| Bot | t.me/yourbot | Social tab: type the bot name |
| Bot with a start parameter | t.me/yourbot?start=poster | URL tab: paste the full link |
Public usernames are 5 to 32 characters long and use letters, numbers and underscores. You can find yours in Telegram under Settings → Username, or in a channel's info page.
Telegram's own QR code vs. this one
Telegram can show a QR code for your profile or a public channel inside the app. It is handy for sharing in person, but it has Telegram's own look and is meant for screens. A code made here:
- can open a private invite link or a bot with a start parameter,
- uses your colors, logo and frame text,
- downloads as PNG, SVG or PDF for print at any size,
- is static: it never expires and has no scan limit.
Ideas that work
- Shops and coaching centres: a channel for offers, timetables or study material, with "JOIN FOR UPDATES" on the counter.
- Events and meetups: a group for attendees on the welcome board and badges.
- Products and packaging: a support bot that answers questions or registers warranties. Use a start parameter like
?start=boxto see which placement people came from. - Communities and housing societies: a notice-board code for the residents' group.
Private invite links: a word of caution
Anyone who scans a code with a private invite link can join the group. If you print it in public, expect strangers. For semi-private groups, turn on "Approve new members" in the invite link settings, or create a separate link for each poster so you can revoke one without affecting the others.
Design tips
- Keep dark dots on a light background. Telegram's blue works well in the frame and as the corner color.
- Print at least 2.5 cm (1 in) wide on flyers and stickers, larger on posters.
- Show the channel name under the code so people know what they're joining before they scan.
Frequently asked questions
Does the code open the Telegram app?
Yes, if Telegram is installed. Otherwise the t.me page opens in the browser and offers to install the app.
Can I make a QR code for a private Telegram group?
Yes. Copy the group's invite link (t.me/+…) and paste it in the URL tab.
Can I link to a Telegram bot?
Yes. Enter the bot's username. To pass a start parameter, paste the full link with ?start=… in the URL tab.
What happens if I change my username?
Codes with the old username stop working. Make a new code after renaming.
Can I revoke a printed invite link?
Yes. Revoke the invite link in Telegram and the printed code stops letting people join. Create a new link and code when you need one.
Is the Telegram QR code free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark, no scan limit and it never expires.
